Devil's Food Cake Reipe



You’ll Need
1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
3 1/2 oz semi sweet chocolate chips (extremely good brand)
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups white sugar
2 eggs (room temp)
1/4 cup sour cream
1 cup warm water water (a little hotter than luke warm)
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter milk

1. In a double boiler melt together the chocolate chips and butter. Set aside and allow to cool.

2. In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together the sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.

3. Add the water and mix well. The mixture will be very runny.

4. In a bowl sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, & cocoa powder. Add the flour to the chocolate mixture then mix until smooth.

5. Add the butter milk & mix until well combined.

6. Split the batter between 2 8 inch cake pans and bake in a preheated 350 degree F. oven for 20-30 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean when inserted in the middle. Cool and then frost as desired.

    1. No, you can melt the butter and pour it over the chocolate and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Then stir and everything should be melted together.
