Ingredients:
1 pound sirloin steak
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
Garlic butter spread-
6 tablespoons salted butter melted
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons dried parsley
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 onion thinly sliced
1 1/2 cups sliced white mushrooms
12 slices white bread
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive on in a large skillet on a high flame. Add steak, allow the steak to sit in the pan for a moment to sear. When the steak begins to sear, move the steak around and cook until the steak is no longer pink and remove from the heat.
- Heat an additional 2 tablespoons of olive oil and add onions and cook on medium high for 3 to 4 minutes. Add mushrooms and cook until the onions are light brown and tender. Combine together with the steak in a bowl.
- in a bowl, mix all of the garlic spread ingredients and set aside.
- Brush one side of the bread with the garlic spread.
- heat a nonstick skillet on medium heat and place two slices of bread into the pan, buttered side down. Spread a layer of cheese over both slices of bread. Add a then even layer of the steak and onion mixture then top with another layer of cheese. Place another slice of bread on top of each buttered side up.
- Use a piece of foil and cover both of the sandwiches and use a heavy object such as a pan on top of the foil and smash both of the sandwiches down as fast as you can. (work quickly so they won’t burn.)
- Once the bottom of the bread has burned, carefully flip the sandwich and cook until browned.
- Remove from the pan and serve.
