Basic Taco Meat Recipe

You'll need:

3 pounds ground beef
2 teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon paprika
½ cup sofrito
1 ½ cups water
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons garlic powder
½ teaspoon oregano
1 onion diced

1.     In a large pan, cook ground beef until it’s about 85% browned with little pink remaining.  During the cooking process use a large wooden spoon to chop the ground beef as it cooks.  You want the beef to be very crumbly.

2.     Drain the fat from the ground beef reserving 2 tablespoons of the fat.

3.      Return everything to the pan and add all the spices and corn starch.  Stir until everything has dissolved into the ground beef, then add water and onions.  Stir, bring to a boil and reduce the heat and cover.

4.     Cook for 20 minutes stirring every so often to prevent the ground beef from sticking to the pain.  Remove from heat and use as desired.
